Now that the "Northern Entrepreneur" is on newsstands in Yellowknife and Hay River, what can Northerners expect from the newsletter?
"I'm hoping most Northerners will find this to be an informative, and entertaining newsletter," says
Roy Dahl, owner of Amik Media Services, the publisher of the newsletter.
"There will be something for everyone. Articles about how to create web pages that sell, how to advertise, to personal experiences about what works in Northern markets and what doesn't. This publication will try to generate excitement for the small and home-based business by providing free resources, free advertising and exposure they perhaps weren't getting through the mainstream media."
Dahl says anyone who owns a northern business, will benefit from a variety of profiles, business tips and articles.
"We'll have articles about how to get started, how to stay profitable and when to expand," he says.
"Too often, the small, home-based business is forgotten. There is a tendency to dismiss them as trendy or frivolous. But a few years ago, there were about 1,800 business licenses issued in Yellowknife alone, and almost half of them were the result of small, home-based businesses. We don't hear their stories often enough."
The publication is always looking for contributions from writers, photographers and anyone with business experience.
"This is a chance for people to promote their own business."
